The two of us wrote
Anti-Oedipus together. Since each of us was several, there was already quite a crowd. (Deleuze, Guattari, 2003)
This video dissects, hides and reveals intimacy and its place in contemporary world. In our time impersonality of social relations is higly valued, yet we simultaneously desperately aspire to authenticity and immediacy of simple personal contact. Through video this tension is articulated as a set of questions on how much intimacy there is, what is personal space, what limits it and what opens it. On the screen two faces, personalities, mental landscapes intersect, they are in a dialogue with each other, where merger brings turnabout: to enter in our, my, your space means to lose one's own space and to steal it from the other.

On Bubble
At first screening of the Robetrina Šebjanič's video Bubble, people were wondering what is that we see in it. What thing from outer reality has this strange form and strange behaviour? Nevertheless placing this video in the exhibition was my curatorial intervention I didn’t know the answer. The authoress later cleared up this dilemma for me but that just convinced me that that particular information is not really important for the whole story.
Despite video Bubble was recorded by a video camera its intention is not to represent the outer world of reality. The referential object is merely used as constructive material of visual language and is later transformed according to logic of animation. It seems to be living its own life in a proper and specially constructed world. Although it is not about taking the viewer totally into a wonderland but it still represents itself as belonging to objective reality. Bubble is in fact a pet name for a curious creature appearing unsteadily on the screen. It moves, pulsates, appears and disappears in the same kind of instability as the creatures we know from our earthly experience do. The Bubble’s body is pithy and it rather reminds of water organisms’ tissues than of a soap bubble. Here lies the reason why it is perceived as a stranger, a peaceful stranger. And it remains a stranger to us for we cannot know its intentions. We learn about depths of sea or outer space but very little about itself personally. Through natural relaxed paced movements gently penetrate the viewer’s intimate emotional space and slowly, slowly gets under his or her skin. It might be a virus or a body snatcher but knows how to drag a person into its soft and infinitely open world.
