| About the Artist |
|
Visual artist and filmmaker Cesar Meneghetti concentrate his artwork in two levels: an attention to social and antropologycal aspects mixed with a cutting edge research on the visual language. Through the mix of various technical supports: traditional and new technologies, he made a sort of iconographical series of social analisys, mass culture, contemporary forms of as communication and its language. He uses the electronic/digital instruments to extract (from a photographic/filmic support) and isolate frames of reality to re-elaborate them digitally, giving them a new context, diverse from the original which gives it a new structure and a new approach to the world. |

[synopsis]
MONTAGE 11 FAST FORWARD REWIND is a palindrome video. The streets of the city of São Paulo mix with the streets of Rome and the present time with the past of the Italians immigrants in São Paulo, Brazil. The camera is used to look objectively at the reality around the ancient “House of the Immigrants” in the borough of Bras and also a mix with photos, memories, people, but also through the layers of time and the immigrant human condition from the past to the present moment. The main aspect of this third serie is the working and an exchange with a musician. Consequently it became natural that the sound score was composed by an Italian, that worked on a computer basis but also that had a very good knowledge of History. Tiberio Pandimiglio has all this skills and the specific aspect in the making of this video is that the music was composed at the same time that the image was edited. In this way decisions were taken primarily seeking for a perfect definition of theme treated, form, content and also through the balance between sound and image in order to offer the adequate intentions.

[the montage series]
MONTAGE are 3 series of experimental videos started in 1999 of 4 videos each. It is a work in progress that uses audiovisual language as a tool to create a new anthropogeographic virtual space. The concepts of a cinematography grammar mix themselves with memory, thoughts, and metaphors, digital and human expressions into the media.
It has as leitmotif the “parallelism” between extremes, film and video, analogical and digital, North and South hemispheres, etc. Aesthetics and ethical issues where the 'significance' becomes 'signifying', in a dimension of moving image gets purer and build up with film language that shapes the inner sense of the work.
